Greeting each day with a whoop of joy
Instead of just a sigh
Sitting in the car
Singing along to that song on the radio
Or arguing with some fool who’s rang a phone-in
And is talking bullshit again
Greeting work colleagues with a ‘Hi’ and a smile
Instead of hoping you’ll go unnoticed
Sitting at your desk
Making phone calls
Or standing by the coffee machine gossiping
About who is shagging who again
Deciding to walk to the park for lunch in the sunshine
Instead of grabbing a quick bite
Sitting on a bench
Reading the newspaper
Or listening to music on your iPod
And that song is playing again
Deciding to go to a pub with your friends
Instead of driving home in the rush hour
Sitting at the bar
Drinking cocktails
Or giving the Karaoke a go and
Both loudly and badly singing that song again
Calling a friend at the end of the day
Instead of just sending a text
Sitting on the sofa
With a glass of red wine
Or a strong cup of coffee
As you talk about your fears and your mistakes again
Calling out goodnight to your loved ones
Instead of just falling asleep
Lying in your bed
With your laptop
Or a book that just you can’t put down
And fall asleep humming that song again
